Pretty Pink Flower “A Baby Hour” Shower

Pink Flower Baby Shower Dessert Table
When {the very talented} designer Rebecca of Fresh Chick Design Studio thought of how she wanted to celebrate the upcoming arrival of Baby #3, her ideal celebration consisted of “getting her closest gal pals together for a night of no kids, delish food, & a few margaritas (for them)”! And the theme of said get-together? “A BABY HOUR” … yep, that’s right: part baby shower…part happy hour! Gotta say I kind of LOVE that thinking… and what a fun theme for a sip & see too, right?! ;)
Something tells me that the girls at Fresh Chick knows how to show their guests a good time… not to mention a fabulous atmosphere – just check out these beautiful pics! I’m especially smitten with the fabulous dessert table backdrop… and yes those ARE flowers fashioned from cupcake liners!

PARTY DETAILS, as told by Rebecca
THEME : ‘A Baby Hour’ We have gone through the gamut of boy themed showers & birthday parties. We still wanted to throw a shower but this time went a little more unconventional for your typical shower theme and color scheme for a mama of baby boy #3.
The theme? “A Baby Hour” part baby shower…part happy hour!! I didn’t feel that a brunch was very fitting for the crowd and with other traditional showers under my belt we opted for something a little left of center. The colors? All sorts of PINK!! Pink is my fave color and since we are done having kiddos and knowing my home will soon be filled with an abundance of sporting goods…we decided to focus on mama!!
The focus of the shower was to get my closest gal pals together for a night of no kids, delish food, a few margaritas (for them) and of course celebrate the upcoming addition to my family!!
I designed the invite and wanted an anthropologie, natural feel but not too vintage with fun & fresh colors. This was our jumping off point for the rest of the party.
Our backdrop was a 36”x48” canvas that Shannon decorated with a torn & crinkled craft paper tree embellished with DIY cupcake liner flowers {via a Martha Stewart idea} a printable party sign and an eyelet punched border. We used a few fabrics on the sweets table in various patterns paired with burlap for that natural element. The fabric was draped up with mini DIY tissue flowers. Crystal cake stands were spray painted to match, paper flower bouquets were added for whimsy, and printable favor boxes and labels accented some goodies. Guest we also give paper flower pins to wear upon arrival…another DIY project.
The cake…one of my favorite elements. A 2-tier banana-chocolate-chip cake with cream cheese frosting that I made and attempted a decorative rosette pattern to cover the cake. I then took two of my favorite party chicks to help with final touches. Grant it, I usually don’t have “a plan” and am known for designing on-the-spot. So I was sent gorgeous fondant pieces (Scrumptious Swirls) and beautifully decorated sugar cookies (The Cookie Jar) and accessorized the cake with them. LOVE the way it all came together!!
For the sweets, we served up cake, cookies, and homemade sticky mini caramel cakes that were in the shape of flowers that mimicked our floral theme. For food we served finger foods such as stuffed mushrooms, shrimp cocktail, hot spinach & artichoke dip, various spreads with crackers and a strawberry & feta salad.
As far as activities? Sorry to disappoint…no games here! Just a group of girls chatting it up and enjoying each others company!! It was such a great evening and fun way to start the official countdown to baby”

Parisian Girls Night In + Bridesmaids Movie Viewing Party

Ever dream of taking a trip to Paris? After browsing this fun & girlie PARISIAN GIRLS NIGHT Party, you may just feel as though you did! Maureen Anders of Anders Ruff here, thrilled to share the details on one of our most exciting projects…
Universal Studios commissioned Anders Ruff to design a Girls Night InPrintable Party Decor Set for the release of the hilarious movie Bridesmaids on DVD at Target. One of our favorite scenes from the movie was the Parisian themed bridal shower. We’d been wanting to design a Parisian themed printable decor set, and this collaboration provided the perfect opportunity!
The sophistication of butterflies, trellis, ruffles and French postal style graphics – paired with humorous elements from the movie – make this party the perfect fit for a fun girls night in or a Bridesmaids viewing party (which would be especially timely right now with THREE of the Bridesmaids actresses being nominated for an Oscar this year!) The signature elements from the party would also work for a Parisian themed birthday party or wedding shower.
So after hours of designing and styling… voilĂ ! Read on for lots more fun pics & party details…
The original Parisian Printable Party Decor Set was a limited time offer (inside the Bridesmaids DVDs at Target), but we are excited to announce that you can now find the collection for sale in the Anders Ruff Shop.

THE DESSERT TABLE

To convey the “Parisian” theme and make a big impact, we constructed a butterfly backdrop for the dessert table. Inspired by Anthropologie and Neiman Marcus, but still keeping with elements from the movie, this was the perfect opportunity to try something fun and dramatic of our own. The printable package includes the butterfly template and it is a very easy DIY project.
Candelabras, black wire french fry cones, and ceramic/iron tiered centerpieces were all strategically placed to pull in French tones and display the desserts beautifully.
Popcorn was a must at our Parisian girls night in and Bridesmaids viewing party. We filled the printable paper cones with pink popcorn (just add oil and food coloring before popping) and drizzled the popcorn with pink chocolate.
Mini cupcakes (from Got What It Cakes) were displayed in varying pink hues and embellished with small butterfly fondant toppers (from Modern Luxe Events).
The Bridesmaids promotion not only included the printable decor collection, but also included offers from E.L.F. Cosmetics. Lip gloss favors were wrapped with a “Merci Beaucoup” printable party flag. These were displayed in ceramic appetizer spoons with a base of hot pink candies.
The printable favor tag from our printable collection was replicated and turned into a cookie embellished with ribbon by Firefly Confections.
Got What It Cakes created beautiful pink and white Cruffle Pops (Cake Pops) that were embellished with a strip of patterned paper and flag for a French feel.
Pretty flower fondant toppers were created by Got What It Cakes to replicate the cupcake scene from the movie. These were placed on the jumbo cupcakes that were displayed on the hangtag adorned candelabras and embellished with a printable cupcake wrapper.
Chocolate bars were adorned with mini wrappers to fit the theme. A variety of pink, black and white candies and gumballs were displayed in adorable polka dot ceramic bowls.<
THE BAR:
Cupcakes were served in martini glasses and we embellished each stem with a printable party flag. The cupcakes (from Got What It Cakes) were topped off with a butterfly (from Modern Luxe Events).
Lip Straw toppers (from the printable package) on paper straws with a pink sugar rimmed glass added a fun touch to the decor and were part of the entertainment.
Pink grapefruit spritzer bottles were wrapped with our drink wrap.
Favor gable boxes (Polka Dot Market), martini shakers and pink lemonade spritzer carafes were detailed with party logos and adorned with ruffled matting. The favor tag cookie was also hung from the gable box. Recognize the heart shaped cookie (Firefly Confections)? If you saw Bridesmaids, you will!
THE KITCHEN:
The focal point of the kitchen was the nook where we played off the “Cake Baby” shop from the movie. We set up a little baking station full of fun parisian girly delights. My pink Kitchen Aid mixer came in handy! More candelabras were repeated here and held cupcakes displayed in measuring cups and embellished with ruffled printable cupcake toppers.
Pink damask luggage boxes for favors fit the theme (Polka Dot Market) and were dressed up with printable favor hang tag decor.
Hanging Butterflies over the kitchen bar made a huge statement. They were cut from the printable template and hung with fishing line over the bar in the kitchen.
Wine bottles were dressed for the occasion by our printable wine wrap, and their necks were embellished with a ruffled party logo. (Visit our Ruff Draft column for a DIY tutorial on the ruffle).
We created simple appetizers for the party. Appetizers included Brie with raspberries, french skewers with blue cheese, ham and apples (topped with printable sticker logos), panko crusted french fries with parmesan and parsley, and mini quiches with creme fresh.
For laughs, we pulled out a carrot shaped cake (Got What It Cakes) that was a “prettier” replica from the hilarious one in the movie.
If you haven’t seen Bridesmaids, you should! It is out on DVD and Blu-Ray and is hysterical, in our opinion. The printable “girls night in” package is available here and is also offered with customization for birthdays an showers.

FREE Printables: “A Star is Born” Hollywood Baby Shower

A Star is Born - Vintage Hollywood Baby Shower
I’m so excited to share full details next week on the A STAR IS BORN Baby Shower event that I helped style last week for Operation Showerwhich is an organization that honors US military families in a very creative & special way!
In the meantime though – I wanted to post the {FREE!} “A Star is Born” party printables for you that I designed for the event right away… because it actually occurred to me that some of the non-baby-specific elements – like the napkin embellishments, place cards/buffet labels, and paper patterns – could be used for home Oscars parties this weekend! Scroll down for a preview of each available element (there are a LOT!), followed by a list of links to download each one. I hope that you’re able to enjoy these and put them to good use! Please don’t forget to credit & link back to HWTM. ;)
